ABOUT
MASA stands for “Middle Atlantic Skating Association,” which has been incorporated since November 11, 1933. In its early years, it promoted all forms of skating as a part of the American Skating Union, yet as its focus became primarily speed skating, it was absorbed into US Speedskating in the mid 1990's.
MASA's main purpose is to support and promote speedskating and its clubs within the boundaries as governed by USS (currently encompassing the lower NY area (up to slightly north of Newburgh), Connecticut, Eastern Pennsylvania, and New Jersey), and it is run by a board of volunteers, all participants and supporters of the sport. There are currently six MASA clubs in the four states. Both Short Track and Long Track skating is promoted by MASA. Our annual meeting is held in mid-spring and is open to all members.
MASA accepts donations as it is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization, and as a nonprofit organization, we exist solely on membership fees and contributions. 100% of the money we collect goes to sponsoring local clubs and events. Ideas for events, supporting clubs and skaters, and input on how we can better serve our membership are gratefully welcomed.
